The whore of Babylon has a few different names like Mystery Babylon the Great, Mother of Harlots, and woman on a scarlet beast. But who is this woman. Well, we know from the Bible that a woman represents a church ... 2 Corinthians 11:2 ...'For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.' ... You see, Christ is our Husband who will come to redeem His bride at the second coming. See the following verse:
Isaiah 62:5 ...'For as a young man marrieth a virgin, so shall thy sons marry thee: and as the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, so shall thy God rejoice over thee.'
Proof that the Whore of Babylon CANNOT be Islam - Read on ...
Let me prove to you beyond doubt why the Whore of Babylon CANNOT be Islam, and why it HAS to be a professing Christian Church that has fallen. Revelation 18 gives details about the judgment of Babylon the Great. And in verse 23 it says ... "the light of the candle shall shine no more at all in thee, and the voice of the Bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more in thee." ... Now, for a candle to be "shining" in this place and to have the voice of the "Bridegroom" in this institution, what does it need to proclaim? JESUS CHRIST! Jesus is the light of the World (the light of the gospel message) and Jesus Himself is the Bridegroom. So this HAS to be a professing Christian church. Islam does NOT proclaim Jesus, therefore the candle and the bridegroom has NEVER been in Islam at any time. So for the candle to shine NO MORE and the voice of the Bridegroom to be heard NO MORE, they would have had to be IN THIS institution to start with. So since Jesus as the Son of God and Saviour of the world has NEVER been part of Islam, this proves that Isalm CANNOT be the Whore of Babylon.
This also proves that Babylon the Great CANNOT be just a city like New York. It MUST be a church.
There is no doubt that a woman in the Bible represents a church. A city can sometimes be called a woman in the Bible also, and Revelation 17 says that Babylon the Great is also a city. The original Babylon in the Old Testament was the original source of all the Pagan customs that we have today, and the whore of Babylon in Revelation 17 is a symbol of the original Babylon (which means "confusion" by the way) because she took on many of the Pagan customs and traditions of original Babylon.
Let me give you further evidence that Babylon HAS to be a CHURCH....
Revelation 17 clearly says that Babylon the Great is guilty of committing "fornication". Now what is fornication in God's eyes? Fornication is the act of "committing adultery" against God and going after other "gods". Now think about this. The ONLY people that can be guilty of committing fornication against God are HIS PROFESSED PEOPLE. Let me give you an example. A husband and wife. Can the wife be guilty of committing fornication against her husband by committing adultery with another man? Yes, because they are married. Now can any other woman be guilty of committing fornication against this man? No, because he is not married to any other woman. Do you see? Christ Jesus is the husband, and we (Christians) are His bride. We are the only one's who can commit fornication against Him. People of other religions who do not accept Him as their Saviour CANNOT commit adultery against Him because they are not "married" or joined to Him in the first place. Therefore, Babylon HAS to be a professing Christian church.
There are two different women in the book of Revelation. One is a pure woman clothed with the sun (righteousness of Christ) in Revelation 12, and this whore in Revelation 17. So the woman in Revelation 12 is the true remnant church, and this whore is obviously an apostate church. So let's take a look at who this whore of Babylon is. There are many identifying marks that God has given us to show us exactly who it is.
Revelation 17:1-2 ...'And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters: With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.'
So the whore of Babylon, this apostate church, is being judged for what she has 
done. It says that the kings of the earth have committed
fornication with her. So the world rulers have apostasized with this church, rather than following the one true God of Heaven. Even
though it is the smallest country in the world, the Vatican has a representative in nearly every country in the world. No other
institution or nation is represented or has the influence the way the Roman Catholic Church has around the world. And throughout history
the kings of the earth have given their power to the Papal Church, to surpress the people of the earth and force them into accepting
Roman Catholic doctrines. This is the "fornication".
It also says in the above verse that the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with her wine. The wine is a representation of this church's doctrines. And we know that the earth has been made drunk and deceived by the false doctrines of the Roman Catholic Church, because it is the biggest church in the world with over 1 BILLION members. The Roman Catholic Church absorbed many of the Babylonian (Pagan) systems of worship and back in 538AD, she gained political power to enforce her doctrines upon the people, up until 1798, when the French Army captured the Pope and ended the reign of the Papacy. During which time, the Roman Catholic Church had tens of millions of Christians murdered who would not bow down to her false teachings.
Revelation 13 says she will have this power once again very soon!
Revelation 17:3 ...'So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.'
This beast is the same as the beast in Revelation 12, which is satan, and the beast in Revelation 13, which is Papal Rome. From the prophecies of Daniel 7, we learned that a beast in Bible prophecy represents a nation or kingdom. The Roman Catholic Church does not have a big enough army to go and conquer the earth. So what does she do? She deceives and uses the nations of the earth to do her conquering for her. This explains the image of the whore riding the beast. It is a picture of the Roman Catholic Church riding (or controlling) the political nations of the earth to enforce her doctrines upon the people of the world. The order of the Jesuits, which the Roman Catholic Church started are shrouded in 'mystery', which fits the name of the woman, Mystery Babylon the great. Take a look at the following interesting quote which reveals what the Jesuits are all about:
"The Jesuits are a military organization, not a religious order. Their chief is a general of an army, not the mere father abbot of a Monastery. The aim of this organization is power. Power in it's most despotic exercise. Absolute power, universal power, power to control the world by the volition of a single man. Jesuitism is the most absolute of despotisms, and at the same time the greatest and the most enormous of abuses." (Memorial of the captivity of Napoleon at St. Helena, by General Montholon)
And notice where John sees the woman on the beast? In the wilderness. So John sees the Papal Church after her fall in 1798 when the French army captured the Pope and the Papacy lost it's power. This is the "mortal wound" that the sea beast of Revelation 13 received. And just as the Papacy drove God's people into the wilderness (See Revelation 12), the Papal Church herself ends up being driven into the "wilderness" in 1798. But today she is now making her way back from the wilderness.
Revelation 17:4 ...'And the
woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having
a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication.' ... This description alone fits the Roman Catholic
Church. The main colours of the bishops and cardinals are scarlet and purple. Now these colours were worn by the priests in the Old
Testament. But there is one colour missing ... Exodus 28:6 ...'And they shall make the ephod of gold, of blue, and of purple, of
scarlet, and fine twined linen, with cunning work.' ... BLUE. And What does the colour blue represent? ... Numbers 15:38-39
...'Speak unto the children of Israel, and bid them that they make them fringes in the borders of their garments throughout their
generations, and that they put upon the fringe of the borders a ribband of blue: And it shall be unto you for a fringe, that ye may look
upon it, and remember all the commandments of the LORD, and do them ; and that ye seek not after your own heart and your own eyes, after
which ye use to go a whoring.' ... Isn't it amazing that the colour blue represented the Commandments of God, and this is the very
colour that the Roman Church don't use for their priests, because they know very well that they have turned away from the
Commandments of God.
Notice also, that God says His people used to forget His Commandments and go WHORING! Just like the Papal Church have gone whoring by putting Pagan traditions over the commands of God. See God's Law in Bible Prophecy for more about what His Commandments mean during the end times. It also says in the above verse that this church is wealthy, 'decked with gold and precious stones'. The Roman Catholic Church is one of, if not THE most wealthiest institution in the world. This of course is covered up by the Vatican.
NOTE: Did you know that the statue that many millions of pilgrims go to kiss the feet of in the Vatican is not Peter? It's actually the statue of the Roman god Jupiter. It was moved from the Pantheon in Rome and moved to the Vatican and renamed 'Peter'. The Roman Catholic Church are guilty of taking on many pagan customs and idols, and renaming them "Christian".
Revelation 17:6 ...'And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.' ... There is no doubt about who this points to. The Roman Catholic Church have the blood of at least 50 MILLION Christians who she tortured and slaughtered during her reign of terror in the dark ages. Take a look at a few quotes:
"From the birth of popery to the present time, it is estimated by careful and credible historians that more than fifty millions of the human family have been slaughtered for the crime of "heresy" by popish persecutors." (John Dowling, The History of Romanism, pp 541-542)
"On August 24 1527, Roman Catholics in France, by prearranged plan under Jesuit influence, murdered 70,000 Protestants within the space of two months. The pope rejoiced when he heard the news of the successful outcome." (Western Watchman, Nov. 21 1912 - Catholic-)
"That the church of Rome has shed more innocent blood than any other institution that has ever existed among mankind, will be questioned by no Protestant who has a complete knowledge of history." (W.E.H. Lecky, History of the Rise and Influence of the Spirit of Rationalism in Europe. Vol. 2, page 32. 1910 Edition)
Revelation 17:15 ...'And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.' ... This church, the whore of Babylon, is supported by many peoples, nations and tongues. There is no doubt that this is the Roman Catholic Church, as she has the largest membership throughout the world. Her membership is actually 15% of the entire world population. The word 'Catholic' also means universal.
Please note that God is calling His people out of this church. But not just out of this church, but all the other denominations that have joined with the Roman Catholic Church. Take a look at the following verse ... Revelation 17:5 ...'And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.' ... She is the mother of harlots. Therefore, there are other 'daughter' churches that go along with her. The protestant churches that once separated from Rome in the reformation are now going back to the Papal Church. The Lutheran church has gone back to her, and the Methodist church have also gone back to her, and many other protestant churches will go back to her as we near the end. If you are a member of the Roman Catholic Church, or a member of a church that has gone back to Rome, then God is calling you out. Come out of her, so that you do not share in her sins ... Revelation 18:4 ...'And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.' ... See Come out of Her My People.
Revelation 18:7 ...'How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.' ... No other church glorifies itself the way the Roman Catholic Church does. The pope is believed by the Catholics to be God on earth. They say that salvation is only possible through the Roman Catholic Church, and many more abominable things. Take a look at the many wicked Catholic Quotes.
But when Christ returns, the Roman Catholic Church and 
anyone
who remains in her will be destroyed ... Revelation 18:16-19 ...'And
saying, Alas, alas that great city, that was clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stones,
and pearls! For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as
many as trade by sea, stood afar off, and cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like unto this great city!
And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas that great city, wherein were made rich all that
had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate.' ... Is this a literal city? The great city
of Babylon was destroyed a long time ago. No, this city in Revelation is a symbol of the Roman Catholic Church which adopted many of the
Babylonian beliefs and systems. Sun worship being one! Please heed the warning and come out of this apostate church, and any other
churches associated with her.
It's time to come away from the whore of Babylon (Roman Catholic Church) and turn to the Bible and live by the Word of God alone.
