Should Christians fear God? What is the fear of the Lord God? That is the question we will be answering on this page.
We believe we should fear the Lord God. The reason being is that the Bible clearly teaches this. All throughout the Word of God in the Bible we are taught to fear the Lord God and give Him glory in our lives. Now we are not saying that our relationship with Him should be one of fear. Our relationship with God, through Jesus Christ is one of love, not fear. But this doesn't stop us from giving Him complete reverence for who He is. We fear God with a holy, Godly fear. We have complete reverence for Him and we are in absolute awe of our Creator and Saviour. But we love Him supremely! Now the problem with the Christian world today is that they concentrate on the love aspect of God without giving Him the great reverence and Godly fear that He deserves. Which is why many Christians tend to treat God as a "mate", rather than the awesome Creator of the universe. Just look at some of the churches today, like the Lutheran church, accepting practicing homosexuals into leadership positions in their church. This is what happens when you stop letting the Bible be your guide and you have no fear of God.
On this page I will post scripture verses that show people of the Bible feared God and teach us that we should do the same. It's down to you as to whether or not you want God's Word to be your guide.
Before I list all the other verses, let me share with you a verse from Revelation 14:7 ...'Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.' ... This angel represents God's people (messengers) on earth giving the last warning to the world before Jesus returns at the second coming. This is the end time message and as you can see, the angel is telling the world to fear God, because the hour of judgment has come. We will all stand before the judgment seat of Christ and I suggest that we start giving respect and Godly fear for the One who can destroy both body and soul in Hell. I think too often we only focus on the loving character of God, and forget the He is an all consuming fire.
Psalm 89:7 ...'God is GREATLY TO BE FEARED in the assembly of the saints, and to be had in reverence of all them that are about him.'
Take a look at all these "Charasmatic" type churches where the people dance around, laughing and falling about. Are they heeding the above guidance? No. We cannot be giving God the respect He deserves if we are laughing, dancing and falling about the place. The problem lies with the fact that many Christians believe they can worship God anyway they like. This is disrespecting our awesome Creator. Jesus said Himself that we should worship God in spirit and in truth. We MUST worship God according to His Word in the Bible.

Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: Their feet are swift to shed blood: Destruction and misery are in their ways: And the way of peace have they not known: There is no fear of God before their eyes.'

Jeremiah 2:19 ...'Thine own wickedness shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee: know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and bitter, that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God, and that my fear is not in thee, saith the Lord GOD of hosts.'
As you can see from the many scripture verses above, we should fear the Lord God, and walk in His ways. There are many more verses to do with the fear of the LORD, which would make this page far too large. It is time to fear God, to put off sin from our lives and walk in the way of the LORD. We love Him supremely, but we should also give Him the great reverence and Godly fear that He deserves as our awesome Creator!
