There is a present truth that is not being preached in the majority of churches today, a truth that the people need to know to prepare for what is coming upon the world. But before we look into present truth, let's take a look at how important it is just to know the Bible truth.
John 17:17 ...'Sanctify them through Thy Word, Thy Word is truth.'
Knowing the truth of God's Word is very important, as the above scripture suggests we are sanctified through knowing and living according to the Word. Is it possible for us to know the truth of God's Holy Word, or has God locked it up and sealed it so that we just cannot know for certain what the truth is? ... 1 Timothy 2:4 ...'Who will have all men to be saved, and come to the knowledge of the truth.' ... Yes, it's God's will that we have a knowledge of the truth, therefore the truth CAN be found. We are saved by coming to a knowledge of the truth, believing it, accepting it and living by it.
Let's take the following verse as an example ... 1 Timothy 2:5 ...'For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.' ... Is this truth of Christ being the ONLY mediator between God and man important to live by? Yes it is. So for instance, what important truth do Catholics need to come to? They need the Bible truth that Mary is NOT a mediator for man, ONLY Christ Jesus is.
Now after receiving a knowledge of the truth, what must we do in order to be sanctified? ... 2 Thessalonians 2:13 ...'God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief in the truth.' ... But is it enough just to believe? ... 1 Peter 1:2 ...'Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience.' ... Belief alone is not enough, we must believe and OBEY the truth.
See HERE for more on this important topic of sanctification.
What is the result of being obedient to the truth of God's Word? ... 1 Peter 1:22 ...'Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit.' ... Are you starting to see how important it is for us to obey the Bible truth? I hope so. How about worshipping God, should that be done according to the truth of His Word? ... John 4:24 ...'God is a Spirit, and they that worship Him MUST worship Him in spirit and truth.' ... So we can clearly see how important it is to find out the truth and obey it. But what about present truth for the time we live in? Let's find out about that.
Does the Bible talk about "present truth" at all? ... 2 Peter 1:12 ...'Wherefore, I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be ESTABLISHED in the present truth.' ... We have Bible truths that are relevant to all generations, but there are also some truths that are only applicable to one generation, making it a "present truth" for them, and salvation would be based upon the people believing and obeying that present truth for their time. Take the flood in Noah's day as an example. Was that a present truth for that generation of people only? Yes. Did salvation for them rely upon them believing that the flood was coming and obeying God's command to build and board the ark? Yes
So what was the present truth message for Noah's day? ... Genesis 6:13-14 ...'And God said unto Noah, the end of all flesh is come before me, for the earth is filled with violence through them, and behold, I will destroy them with the earth. Make thee an ark of gopher wood.' ... And what did Noah do with this present truth:
Hebrews 11:7 ...'By faith, Noah being warned of God by things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house, by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.'
He believed God's true word and by faith he OBEYED it. Now notice above that this present truth message from God to Noah was unto SALVATION. Do you see this? Salvation was based upon Noah and his family obeying the warning for his time. Not just believing it, but obeying it and preparing for it. Now 1 Peter 3:20 tells us that only 8 people were saved in the ark. EIGHT!! out of the possible 100's of thousands or millions of people living during that time. And yet there were probably many other people who had the "common" faith in God like Noah did, just like many of the professing Christians of our day. So why were they not saved? Because they did not accept the PRESENT TRUTH message for their time. Their mere belief in God was not enough to save them. They HAD to BELIEVE and OBEY this warning of the flood from God, which was a truth unto salvation. But they ignored it, perhaps believing that their mere "belief" in God would be enough, and they were LOST!!
What about Jonah? Did he have a present truth message for the people of his time that was unto salvation? Yes ... Jonah 3:3-4 ...'So Jonah arose, and went unto Nineveh, according to the Word of the Lord ... And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried and said, yet forty days and Nineveh shall be overthrown.' ... Now these people were saved from destruction, so what was it that saved the people?
Jonah 3:5,10 ...'So the people of Nineveh believed God and proclaimed a fast and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them unto the least of them. And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil ways, and God repented of the evil that He had said He would do unto to them, and He did it not.'
This is powerful!!! This was a present truth message to the people of that time. Now the people could have just simply carried on believing in God but not accept the present warning, and what would have been the result? They would have been destroyed! But because they obeyed the warning and TURNED FROM THEIR SINS and turned to God, they were saved!
